The Maison of Hyper Horology is bringing us another treat with the introduction of the Excalibur Double Tourbillon in black ceramic - and it could not be any better!
Black ceramic watches are cool and thus can be found in many different ranges of luxury watches. Thanks to their amazing looks, incredible scratch resistance and great feel on the skin, these watches are highly regarded by collectors the world over. However, ceramic is also a material that takes a lot of effort to master, as it is significantly more challenging to process than metals like steel or gold.
Roger Dubuis however, is always up for a challenge and has encased their highly skeletonized double tourbillon movement in a 45mm matte black ceramic case. Such as the case, the movement is made of state-of-the-art materials, to further exemplify the hyper horology approach of the piece. With a fully skeletonized movement, the wearer is able to admire the delicate mechanics, that are all hand-finished, from the dial and the caseback side. Being a hand wound movement, there is also no rotor to obstruct the view. Furthermore, the double tourbillon mechanism is linked by a differential gear to allow for a highly efficient energy transmission and thus offer a power reserve of 72 hours. Being a Roger Dubuis, the movement also bears the Poinçon de Genève, which is without doubt the most demanding horological certifications.
By the company’s non-exotic policy, the watch comes on a black calfskin strap with padding that extends the bold design of the movement and case over to the strap. For more information on this piece, follow the link below.
